Falling in Love with a Hero

Falling in Love with a Hero

Thunder on the Mountain

When I begin writing a book, I find someone whose looks I like and keep their photo front-and-center as I get familiar with the character. This is a photo of Scott Eastwood, son of Clint, and he looks just like I imagine my current hero to look.

In my third book of the Thunder on the Mountain Series, Thunder Storm, there was a young man that I completely fell in love with. I was so enamored with the character of the adolescent Runner Jeffries, son of Miles and Jeni Jeffries, that I wanted him to have his own book.

He’s all grown up now and is a major league baseball player, and if I thought I loved him as a kid, I am totally in love with him now that he’s an adult. And Charlotte Rose, daughter of Jack and Callie (Thunder Snow) (she first showed up in Thunder Struck), is his love interest. She loved him when she was four, and she’s still in love with him, but now it’s a different kind of love – all mature and grown up and stuff ;).

I can’t wait to tell you their story, which I project will be available in April of 2017. Be sure to sign up on the right side of this post and I’ll let you know when their story is ready to be shared.

The importance of reader reviews

Writing Amazon Reviews

When I published my first book, it was a strange sensation to think about allowing others to glimpse into the functioning of my brain. A true romantic at heart and blessed with the most incredible husband, the book is, nonetheless, a work of fiction full of made-up words and made-up scenarios. I believe we read romance novels to escape into happily-ever-afters and make new friends, if only momentarily.

writing reviewsCallie and Jack have been wonderfully received, and it has been such an encouragement to hear from so many of you who have loved them and look forward to reading more about the little town of Nederland in the soon-to-be published (early December 2013) second book, THUNDER STRUCK, about Jack’s foreman, Brandan Webb, and Jordan Whitman, a New York lawyer who inherits a run down Bed and Breakfast overlooking the water in our little hamlet just outside of Denver. But what I was naively surprised about were the personal comments, emails, and reviews of people who were looking for something other than what I’d written.

It’s all a learning process, and I definitely know I can’t please all the people all the time, so I don’t take it personally (most of the time). However, Amazon reviews are extremely important, especially for new authors. They can make or break you, because it’s the reviews that drive Amazons algorithms. If you’re on this page, hopefully it’s because you’ve enjoyed THUNDER SNOW and the adventures of Jack and Callie. If that’s the case, would you please take a moment and write a review on Amazon (and Goodreads if you’re there)?

The imp in me does enjoy, however, the less-than-stellar reviews from people who are ‘shocked’ at the sex in the book. My take on that is – if you ignored the warning that says **SEXUAL CONTENT** **INTENDED FOR MATURE AUDIENCES** and bought the book anyway, oh, well . . .

Contemporary Romance Now Available

I have learned a lot in the past two weeks since my contemporary romance book has been Contemporary Romancepublished. One thing is definite – marketing is marketing. There is not a lot of difference in pushing book sales or a real estate site. You still need customers. It has been a fun experience to publish THUNDER SNOW, one that I am looking forward to repeating soon. Working hard on THUNDER STRUCK, Book 2 in the Thunder on the Mountain Series (Nederland, CO being the Mountain in question). The serene photo above was taken of Nederland on a recent visit. In the picture, the town sits between where the two mountains dip. Thank you all for your overwhelming support and encouragement. It has been a blast, and I feel blessed beyond measure.
